How Skins Are Tracked on ProSkins
At ProSkins, we prioritize data accuracy above all else, ensuring that every skin we track is verified with precision. Our goal is to provide a reliable service where authenticity and accuracy matter more than simply increasing the number of matched skins.
Skin Matching and Verification
When we match a skin by float value, our focus is on verifying its uniqueness. Using publicly available sources, we ensure that no duplicates with the same name and float exist. This careful verification helps maintain the integrity of each item’s history. In cases where users have information about possible duplicates, we provide a Report button near every item matched to a pro player, allowing users to help keep our data as accurate as possible.
Tracking Skins During Matches
We track skins before matches to connect them with in-game highlights, always prioritizing accuracy. If a pro player achieves a notable moment in a match, we link it to the skin they were using. However, if a player owns multiple skins with the same name, we cannot pinpoint which one was involved, and we avoid making uncertain matches.
Additionally, certain changes—such as skins remaining invisible in a player’s inventory after a recent trade or skins exchanged mid-match—are impossible for us to detect. Rather than making questionable assumptions, we rely on the community to report such cases to ensure our tracking stays accurate and trustworthy.
